You may not know this, but Dance Out Loud is growing!  We believe that it is possible to be a sustainable,
accountable business and make a good living.  If you know a local or not so local business that is using
sustainable business practices, please let us know and we may link them here.
Though this page is currently a work in progress, we hope to launch it officially by this summer.
We can be a force for good.

Community Activism
This is a preliminary page detailing DOL's community
partnerships and participation.

It is a work-in-progress currently available only through
a link in our
March 2009 newsletter.
As the mom of twins and the daughter of one criminal and one practical
revolutionary, I could not be involved with a business venture that did not
make a contribution to the world.  I originally thought that DOL would be a
not-for-profit organization.  Although I still believe in non profit work, I do not
believe it's necessarily the best place for a venture like this one.

We give back to the organizations we work for:

Although we are a tiny orgnaization at this time, we do:

Other projects in the works:
DOL gives 5% of it's class fees back to the schools where we hold
classes that parents pay for directly
we offer a limited amount of need-based scholarships
we do volunteer work at many the schools we work for and at
most schools receive free parent demonstration classes throughout
the year
pay all employees above minimum wage, and plan to meet living
wage standards in both the East Bay and San Francisco by 2010
plan to offer health care to our employees by 2011
make our business a green one, even though I cannot currently
afford the accredidation, by using rechargable batteries, all natural
cleaning products, flourescent lightbulbs, buying locally and organic
whenever possible and much more
we are working with one of our schools to build a foundation to
support the work of the school, including scholarships and
enrichment activities
we are currently investigating the possibility of forming a
professional organization for early childhood educators in the Bay
area that would help us to unite for the purpose on continuing
education, health insurance procurement and more
we meet with other teachers for support, inpiration and building
solidarity and srtategies for continuing non-violent communication
work in education
working with other organizations to promote the acceptance of
differing lifestyles, cultures, and abilities
Parenting groups, coops, education and more!
